Dalle origini a Cornello, ai primi incarichi a Venezia, alla corte pontificia e in Tirolo, questo lavoro approfondisce poi l&#8217;avvio delle poste nelle Fiandre, possedimenti degli Asburgo, con una analisi delle lettere patenti di Filippo il Bello che assegnarono a Francesco Tasso il ruolo di capo e maestro delle poste imperiali. Il contenuto di queste patenti \u00e8 riportato integralmente, insieme alla versione in lingua corrente; lo stesso vale per la patente di Carlo I di Spagna, del 12 novembre 1516, con la quale si fa coincidere la nascita ufficiale delle moderne poste europee.
