This catalogue is published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition Un altro sguardo. Opere dalla Collezione Gemma De Angelis Testa / A Different Gaze. Works from the Gemma De Angelis Testa Collection, curated by Gabriella Belli, Gemma De Angelis Testa, and Marta Spanevello, at Villa e Collezione Panza – FAI in Varese. Inaugurating a series of exhibitions dedicated to the theme of collecting, in dialogue with the sensibility of Giuseppe Panza di Biumo, the show presents thirty-nine artworks from Gemma De Angelis Testa’s private collection, as well as from works she has loaned to the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and the Museo del Novecento in Milan. The variety of works and artists included in the exhibition—Cy Twombly, Robert Rauschenberg, Mario Merz, Francesco Lo Savio, Gianni Piacentino, Joseph Kosuth, Elizabeth Neel, Andreas Breunig, Cecily Brown, Anselm Reyle, Gregor Schneider, Oscar Murillo, Francesco Vezzoli, Vanessa Beecroft, Shirin Neshat, Andres Serrano, Bill Viola, Marina Abramović, Pipilotti Rist, Monica Bonvicini, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Sabrina Mezzaqui, Armando Testa, Adrian Paci, Yan Pei-Ming, Ai Weiwei, William Kentridge, Grazia Toderi, Thomas Ruff, Peter Fischli & David Weiss—follows Testa’s intuition and curiosity towards the contemporary art scene since the 1990s.
