What is liberdomus . . . and something about us :

The new Internet initiative, born from the oldest commission bookshop in Rome :
the Nardecchia Bookshop which thanks to the experience and knowledge of the distribution and book sector has created, by adopting the most modern technologies of the Internet network, a catalog oriented towards the “B2B” sector of books but which is also accessible to the public for purchases with home delivery or directly from participating libraries to liberdomus through our innovative channel pickatbookshop.

the bookstore sector also guarantees the conventional book discount on smaller orders, which is not tied to a minimum purchase.
  • “3%LiberPlus” the additional discount in addition to the book discount
which guarantees free shipping costs starting from orders of Lire 150,000/Euro 77.50!
  • one search for all catalogs of distributed publishers
to immediately find the title you were looking for and have a useful and fast working tool for your searches!
  • reservations and complete and reliable answers on missing titles
to never hear again “isn’t it?”, but to have complete and certain answers so as not to waste time on phone calls to the publisher!
  • more sales and new customers with the “pick-at-bookshop” service
thanks to the possibility offered to individuals to choose online to “pay and collect” the book ordered at the bookstore closest to them by selecting it from the list of bookstores participating in the service.

What we offerto publishers:

  • significant presence of your news in the bookstore
thanks to a promotion in all Italian bookstores with an Internet connection or a fax and advertising in sector magazines and Internet portals
  • greater extension of the promotional activity at lower costs
because through the Internet we can reach bookstores everywhere, especially in areas where the promotional and distributive presence is more lacking and without having to ask you for the heavy commissions that large-scale distribution demands!
  • completeness and accuracy of the promotion and news sheets
with author, title, city, publisher, ISBN, bibliographic info, illustration and index.
  • tranquility and security of the economic-financial aspects
being able to count on the reliability of a company of proven seriousness and stability.
  • lower expenses and administrative work
because a single supply to “liberdomus” includes the many supplies to bookshops previously supplied directly, thus producing a reduction in the administrative burden and in the incidence of shipping costs!

The history of Nardecchia

Founded in 1895 by Attilio Nardecchia, the “Nardecchia” is undoubtedly among the oldest Roman bookshops. The bookshop was housed in the beautiful Palazzo Carpegna, designed by Raphael, now owned by the Senate, although its best-known location was in Piazza Cavour, where the bookshop moved when it was sold by Attilio Nardecchia, following its eviction. to the two German booksellers Walter Regenberg and Ernest Immelen.

The enormous patrimony of books collected by Attilio, dedicated in particular to private auctions, to the sale of libraries “by auction” and above all to the sale of duplicates from the National Central Library of Rome in 1914, was purchased together with the bookshop by the two new owners which gave it a new appearance also thanks to Walter Regenberg’s long stays abroad which allowed them to forge friendships and acquaintances, favoring the development of foreign trade.
The libraries of the most prestigious universities in the United States, which were then being set up, bought a good part of their Italian collections from the Nardecchia Bookshop and induced the two owners, through the request for subscription magazines and series (Standing Order Basis), to move towards commission bookshop activity.

Thus it was that from 1930 the bookshop specialized in the sale of Italian magazines and books on commission, offering in particular to libraries abroad an information service and offers on novelties.
This activity was followed first by Walter Regenberg’s nephew, Gunter Kluge: director of the Nardecchia Bookshop from 1968 to 1997, then by his son Richard Kluge who began in 1988, just twenty-one years old, the experience with the bookshop of which he has been the director since 1995 Sole Director.

The long experience and knowledge of the book trade and the fiduciary relationships with Italian publishers, distributors and booksellers, have allowed “Nardecchia” to know all the problems of the book including those related to the new world of the “Internet” from which it intends to launch a distribution model that guarantees all the characteristics of quality, reliability and leanness that the book world requires.
